“In our deepest moments of struggle, frustration, fear, and confusion, we are being called upon to reach in and touch our hearts. Then, we will know what to do, what to say, how to be. What is right is always in our deepest heart of hearts. It is from the deepest part of our hearts that we are capable of reaching out and touching another human being. It is, after all, one heart touching another heart.”
- Roberta Sage Hamilton
Backbending is one of the most challenging categories of yoga posture for many practitioners. Fear and a desire to avoid them are a common experience for many. Backbending is great for the nervous system and the body to develop their full range of strength and opening necessary for a balanced internal experience. Psychologically, backbends teach us to be more patient with ourselves and offer valuable lessons such as discipline and care. On an energetic level backbends allow for deep heart opening.
In this workshop we will warm the body up with a yoga sequence built around heart openers and back bends, we will learn to create more mobility in the chest, shoulders and from side of the body. Rebecca will teach to all levels, so come just as you are, and we will create what ever modifications you need for your body as it is .
Please eat slight snack before coming and time for digestion, maybe an hour or so before class so your energy stays and be hydrated before you come ( not a ton of water right before class, drink small amounts all day )
